Everyone knows that Apple and Samsung are leading in the smartphone arena. With the recently launched Xperia SP and Xperia L models, one wonders if Sony is looking for the coveted 3rd position! Both the phones have highly advanced features and functions, but price-wise they fit within the affordable range.
About Sony Xperia SP
The HD display 4.6 inches touchscreen of Xperia SP is something to show off about. With a pixel density of 720ppi the visual output is bound to be superlative. The screen has a resolution of 1280×720. The combination of 1.7GHz Snapdragon processor and Android Jelly Bean 4.1 operating system makes the phone an even match for other competing brands in the market. The 8 megapixel rear facing VGA camera supports high definition imagery and video capture.
Xperia SP has 5.8GB of free usable memory along and an expandable microSD card slot. The 1GB random access memory is just right for both multitasking and multimedia. The phone is compatible with LTE bandwidths of various levels, including 4G. It also has Near Field Communication (NFC) capability for close range wireless data transfer to and from other electronic devices.
Knowing Sony Xperia L
This smartphone is more like an entry-level bundle that has high level technology at a lower cost. It has the usual 8 megapixel VGA camera and HD quality touchscreen. The processor speed is 1GHz dual core which is lower than Xperia SP, but the internal memory and extendable memory are the same. The camera is slightly more advanced than SP because of its wide angle image capability and the Exmor RS quality. Where multimedia and multitasking are concerned, it has the same power as Xperia SP with similar functionality and features.
Xperia L too runs on the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system and comes with the same set of applications. The phone has a special button so that you can switch between the camera mode and the phone mode very easily. For a photography faddist this is a real boon because most touchscreen phones are icon or menu based and some amount of scrolling is necessary for accessing the camera functions.
Both the smartphones are embedded with display technology that matches Sony’s Bravia television sets. The high definition Reality Display is unmatched in the television industry. By using similar technology in both the phones, the display will have sharper visuals, striking contrasts, deeper colors and shades, and realistic pictures.
A small transparent bar lights up with different colors to alert the user about incoming calls, instant message, emails and SMS messages. These notifications can be customized for each category of alerts vis-à-vis LED color and sound.
High speed data transfer over wireless networks and HDR video streaming are also a part of both the smartphones. Applications like Album is just right for photo sharing and image transfer. Apps like Movies and Walkman will be a delight for those who are extremely fond of multimedia and gaming.
Sony’s smartphones Xperia SP and Xperia L combine the benefits of low price and advanced technology and are expected to reach the markets in mid 2013.
