When we say that jailbreak is the only option then we mean it. Having an Apple device without performing a jailbreak on it is like having a gift pack without opening it. The real fun starts when you perform the jailbreak. Confused about what are we talking about? Let me clarify it for the new comers. Jailbreak is basically the hacking of the iOS which the operating system for iPhone and iPads by Apple. It is legit as the US courts have ordered about its legality.
Apple with the latest model of the iPhone which is iPhone 4S launched the iOS 5 and since then due to the bugs and other issues, the company kept on releasing many updates. The only firmware on which we have the untethered jailbreak available is the iOS 5.0.1 for A5 devices and the credit goes to Pod2g and the dream team he made. Absinthe is the name of the tool which is responsible for performing the jailbreak on your iDevice.
Supported devices:
iPhone 4S running iOS 5.0, 5.0.1 (9A405 and 9A406)
iPad 2 Wifi/GSM/CDMA running iOS 5.0.1
We will take you to a step by step guide which will help you getting your device jailbroken. It is highly recommended that before you go into the process, do not forget to restore your device factory setting on the iOS 5.0.1.It will reduce the chances of getting any error while performing the jailbreak on it.
Now we will rush to the steps.
- You need to have the latest version of the Absinthe download and installed on your machine (PC or Mac).
- By clicking on the Absinthe App shortcut, launch the Absinthe tool.
- After you have done launching it, you need to connect your device to the computer. The tool will automatically recognize the device and once it is done you are supposed to press the jailbreak button which will be there in the middle right side of the screen. It will say something like “restore in progress”.
- Once your device reboots, there will be an additional icon of Absinthe on your springboard. Tap on the icon and you will see the home screen of the official GreenPois0n website and then your device will reboot. After the reboot, you will notice that there is another icon named Cydia is there on your spring board and has replaced the previous Absinthe icon.
That is all. You have just performed the untethered jailbreak on your A5 devices. Isn’t it easy?
