Tethered jailbreak was available since the very day iOS 5.01 was released but no one was interested in that tethered exploit. After months of dedicated hardships, French developer Pod2g finally gave us the exploit we wanted the most. The untethered exploit for iOS 5.0.1 was made available by this member of chronic Dev team and we will give youi a step by step guide on how to jailbreak your device on iOS 5.0.1.

If you have already performed the tethered jailbreak on your device then almost everything is done. Go to Cydia from your device and search for Corona Package. After getting it, download it and install it. You will have now untethered jailbreak on your device.

For those who are doing it for the first time, following is a step by step guide for you.

1) first of all you have to download the tool which will help you perform the jailbreak. Redsn0w is the recommended one and is extensively used for this purpose.

2) After you have downloaded windows or mac Redsnow and installed on your device, it is now time to connect your device to your PC or Mac computer.

3) Go back to the main menu and choose the “Jailbreak” from the options.

4) You have now to put your device into DFU mode. All you have to do is to follow the instructions and make sure that your device is powered off.

5) You have to hold the power button for a few seconds. Then you have to hold the power button and the home button simultaneously for a longer time. Finally, you’ll let go of the power button, and keep holding down the home button for a while longer.

Doing all this combination in the right way will enter your device in the DFU mode.

6) Now your device will flash white on a screen for a moment and then it will reboot. Nothing to worry.

7) In the next window, you have to check the box which says “Install Cydia” and then proceed.

8) The process will automatically proceed and your device will then reboot. Your device is now untethered jailbroken. Head to Cydia and start having fun with jailbreak.
