Couple of weeks again an unknown hacker called Hamzah_akram gained a lot of attention when he came up with a tutorial to unlock iPhone 4 baseband 4.11.08.
A lot of iPhone users are stuck with baseband 4.11.08 and upon his idea majority of them had belief that he could make it. Although he was center of attention and for this particular solution all eyes were focused on him yet after a lot of criticism his efforts were no more appreciated. Most importantly when MuscleNerd labeled him ‘Fake’ on twitter, people starting losing faith in his efforts.
Surprisingly, just after a few weeks later, same hacker broke the ice and appeared once more with his unlocking tutorial. He explained in his tutorial, how his unlock was way easier for unlocking iPhone 4 operating on iOS 5.0.1 with a baseband of 4.11.08.
After a few weeks of silence, he returned, retaliated and released his unlocking tutorial. He explained that this is not ‘react0r’ but rather an “easy” way of unlocking iPhone 4 running on iOS 5.0.1 with baseband 4.11.08. This tutorial was first published on his blog and I have reproduced it in subsequent paragraphs.
UPDATE
This unlock for 4.11.08 baseband follows a series of steps which are described below in desired sequence. According to hacker it’s not a ractor unlock rather it is quite easy. Hacker claims its successful testing on two locked ‘MC318LL’ iPhones 4 on iOS 5.0.1 with the networks Etisalat in UAE, Orange in Jordan, zain and Umniah.
Requirements: All that you are needed is an iPhone 4, Original iPhone 4 SIM, SIM card with constant data availablity to unlock using this tutorial.
Unlocking Procedure Devised by Hacker hamzah_akram
a) Open the link to download your unofficial carrier profile http://www.unlockit.co.nz
b) Dial any number after you insert official iPhone Carrier SIM card.
c) Enter ‘Settings>Carrier’ and turn auto search on to select a network to connect the carrier which we’ll use to unlock the iPhone until you receive a message ‘Restricted network…………….’
d) Go back to main menu after dismissing last step.
e) Turn Airplan Mode ‘On’ and quickly open SAM>utilities> deactivate SAM and go back to recheck SAM is in ‘Disabled’ mode.
f) Turn auto connection ‘Off’ and go to Cydia>Manage>Sources>Beginer (Don’t just “Restart Spring board”).
g) After SAM is uninstalled, press home button and enter settings to forget the WiFi network; keeping Airplane mode ‘On’.
h) Eject official iPhone Carrier SIM and go back to Cydia and quickly insert carrier SIM card which to unlock the iPhone before Apple Logo flashes.
i) Normal Apple screen will appear. Just wait for 30 Sec and restart your phone.
j) You will find SAM activation screen with no Signal bar. Press ‘Use Cellular Connection’ and wait for a few seconds.
k) Eject and reinsert your SIM fast and you‘ll be landing on home screen with full signal bar with the carrier which we used to unlock the iPhone.
l) Call Service center for 1 Minute and go to settings>General>About and check your carrier which would be ‘Carrier 11.0’.
m) Call any other number and your iPhone 4 operating on iOs 5.0.1 is unlocked for baseband 4.11.08
IMPORTANT NOTE: In some cases it might not happen in first attempt so try it again, it definitely would work.
