If you have an iOS device then one thing you always love to go to is the App Store and we all keep on tracking it to find out the new, famous and awesome apps. The system of app development and the approval of the app before it should appear in the App Store is very strict but still there are some issues Apple App Store has been facing.

We have already reported about the fraudulent apps which were downloaded by the users mistakenly thinking that it is something they needed and it turns out to be a fraud having totally different thing than you expected. Apple has already removed some for the misleading apps from the App Store as many of the developers filed a complaint against them. Now there is another thing which is the fake method of increasing the ranking of the App in the App Store.

App Store has a real time algorithm, rather a closed one for the apps to run on the device. The algorithm has many things like number of downloads, news articles about any app and whether Apple is featuring it or not. Users ratings also help the developer to generate some good revenue as it is directly a marketing tool. IF you happen to get your app in the top 25 then you are out of this world and the developers are in real obsession to get their apps in the top 25. This thing may convert your part time developing in a real time business. Just take the example of the Angry Birds by Rovio, which is a gaming app and is one of the most popular apps. Every smartphone user has it and this thing has made Rovio as business as the game is now coming to many platforms. Recent reports suggest that the game is coming in the social network giant Facebook as well.

Well that was all for the top 25 ranking and now there are some companies which are offering this kind of behavior that you pay them and in return they will promote your app. Your app will be downloaded and the fake user ranking will make the app’s place better in the store. Apple has plans to finish this kind of fake marketing.

The company has warned to the developers, saying: “Once you build a great app, you want everyone to know about it. However, when you promote your app, you should avoid using services that advertise or guarantee top placement in App Store charts. Even if you are not personally engaged in manipulating App Store chart rankings or user reviews, employing services that do so on your behalf may result in the loss of your Apple Developer Program membership. Get helpful tips and resources on marketing your apps the right way from the App Store Resource Center.”

Previously Apple said that it is changing the ranking algorithms and in the new one, some certain apps will be more benefitted. Those apps which got the maximum benefit due to this changing by the company were social networking applications. Other developers that didn’t benefit so greatly have relied upon the services of companies like Flurry or TapJoy to help boost their rankings. This a company dedicated to promote the app and get you some downloads thus increasing the ranking.

I think this is one of the things apple should be taking care of as the very first step has been taken. Getting an official email from the App Dev Center will surely threaten some of the users that this might lead to the failure to the access to their account. Apple never has a second thought while blocking the accounts and developers are known to this fact.
