After some donations from the jailbreak supporters the reputable Hacker Pod2g was finally able to get his hands on iPhone 4s to try his exploits. At present is working on the latest A5 chip devices launched by Apple such as iPhone 4s and ipad 2 and according to his blog and twitter updates he was close to success but then he stuck with some cache problems but later on with lot of efforts and hard work he fixed that problem.
The well known hacker has recently updated his blog with a new demo video in which he is showing that an untethered jailbreak is possible on iphone 4 running iOs 5.0.1. According to his report the jailbreak is “near ready for prime time” but it will not work for devices with A5 chip such as iphone 4s and iPad 2.
Here is a new video demo of the current status of the 5.0.1 jailbreak running on an iPhone 4.
This is meant to reassure people that were thinking it only works on older iPods.
The jailbreak is near ready for prime time (excluding 4S and iPad 2).
Patches are the same as redsn0w’s. Expect the same level of stability.
Some more days to wait. Be patient, we’re doing our best.
Some people were very excited after watching this video. One said, “pod2g you rock! my friends and I have been avidly looking for updates from you and I would just like to say great job! keep up the good work! looking forward to getting rid of a tethered jailbreak! :0″
But Some people are not happy as they are expecting little more from him. As one of them said.
“The jailbreak is near ready for prime time (excluding 4S and iPad 2).” Doesn’t sound too good eh. But well done anyway. Apple really messed around with JB community with the A5 chip. Will there still be a release for the A5 devices?AND is/are the exploit/s you discovered in iOS 5.0.1 still found in any of the 5.1 betas? i am asking this because you mentioned that the the bugs you found were obscure.
This video is to reassure those who were thinking iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak only works on older iPods. Meanwhile, he urged people, who want the untethered jailbreak, to be patient as the whole Dev team is working hard on A5 chip devices. He promised that they will do their best.
